Principal’s Message
One of the hallmarks of Benjamin Franklin Elementary Mathematics and Science School is our positive school culture. We are a family environment insisting on common core values and an emphasis on the Academic, Social, and Moral teachings to make our students the best they can be. Our February Black History Program exemplified this and we expect it will be shown this month on the OPSB Educational Access channel. All month long we will be in the final stages of preparation for the state tests. Phase I testing for our fourth grade students is on March 19th. Students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 will be taking the week long state tests April 8 – 12, 2013. It is high stakes for our fourth grade students! Please continue to monitor their school and home work. This is a very crucial time for our teachers and students and we need your support to assure that our students are well behaved and focused on filling the gaps in knowledge before the state tests. Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward on the 10th. The alarms will ring mighty early on Monday the 11th!!
Environmental Awareness and Super Science Saturday
Every year our Science Saturday gets bigger and better. We have wonderful activities and presenters planned for this year’s event which takes place Saturday, March 16. Please plan to join us as we explore Recycling, our environment, and super science activities.
Academic Games
Kudos to our Academic Games team who has 5 students in the top 25 spots out of 140 students region wide. Mrs. Fontenette and her team continue to shine and outperform area schools. We are looking forward to a grand finish and participation at the National Level. Stay tuned!
