October Edition

Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

From your Child’s Principal, Ms. Matthew:
October is always a very busy month at school.   It is the end of the first quarter, so students should be readying for their first quarter exams. Please note the exam schedule on the back page..
Grandparents Day was a huge success. We had 343 Grandparents who enjoyed the festivities at the Jefferson and the Nashville campuses. Thank you to all who came and who assisted in making our Grandparents feel extra special!!
We had a very productive Dads Duty Day and Green Apple Day of Service. Our butterfly garden has been refurbished with new soil and plants. Our Dads continue to go beyond expectations beautifying our campus and helping out in ways only our Dads can do! There are incentives for attending. Your children get to be line leaders, their names announced over the PA and there will be a special crawfish boil picnic at the end of the year for Dads (and their families) who volunteer at least four times during the year!
Tuesday, October 21st from 4:00 – 6:00 will be our first quarter report card distribution day. Teachers will contact parents to set up conference times as needed.
Please help us keep classroom interruptions to a minimum. If your child needs to be checked out early for a doctor’s appointment or other legitimate reason, send a note to the child’s teacher. That way the teacher is aware at the beginning of the day that a student will be leaving early.   Other sources of interruptions are parents calling with messages for students. We only have one secretary at each site who can’t leave her desk every time a parent needs to get a message to a student so the secretary calls the classroom of the student and announces the message over the speaker. Obviously, this is a big disruption to the class and wastes valuable instructional time. Please only call the school with emergency messages.
We appreciate our parents. Please get involved with your child’s school! Thank you!
