November Edition

A message from your child’s Principal, Ms. Matthew:
One of the traditions at my house, when we sit down at the table at Thanksgiving is for each person to share what they are thankful for. We share our thankfulness for our family, our church, our jobs, our health, our friends and our community. We have much to be thankful for and sometime we need to look at things from a different perspective to see the little things that we take for granted. As we approach this holiday season, take time to express an attitude of gratitude not only for the obvious blessings we have but for the multitude of things that we often take for granted. From home to school to work to play, let’s take time from our usual routines to look for good and positive things and give thanks. Remember, too, that the second part of Thanksgiving is GIVING. Please participate in our Second Harvester’s Food Drive as well as our Operation Christmas Child which is explained on the back page of this newsletter.

Enrichment Fee
We are thankful for our families that have paid the enrichment fee of $60.00 for this school year. If you have not paid the enrichment fee, please do so as soon as possible. We have obligated ourselves to the vendors supplying our school with the enrichment items like ID’s, scholastic magazines, web based programs, and field trip tee shirts to name a few. Compared to the enrichment fees and budgets of surrounding schools, ours is a bargain! We will take your payment in increments, so PLEASE support your school and enable us to continue to provide the extras that make our school exceptional.

Operation Christmas Child
Three of our Girl Scout troops are preparing to pack shoe boxes full of useful and fun items for children around the world. We are partnering with Operation Christmas Child. Our scouting troops are hoping to pack 100 shoe boxes full of toys, school supplies, hygiene items and a variety of high quality gifts that will bring delight to a child. Please send items to school by Thursday, November 13th. That way the troops can pack the boxes at their meeting on the 14th and get them ready for shipping overseas. Here are suggested items we are asking students to bring in: deflated sports ball with hand pump and needle, jump ropes, dolls, toy cars, small stuffed animals, stickers, jacks, other small toys, school supplies, tooth brushes, toothpaste, soap, washcloths, solar calculators, rulers, costume jewelry, and fun things a child might like to find in their Christmas Shoe Box! There was a grade level sheet of recommended items, but parents and students can send in these other items to make the box more FUN!! Thank you!!!
