September 2014 Parent Power Newsletters

Charlotte L. Matthew, M.Ed., Principal

Get Your Technology Groove On!

From your Child’s Principal, Ms. Matthew:
We are experimenting with different formats for your Parent Power Newsletters. There are so many opportunities for parents and students that a letter size format does not fit our monthly calendar. Please check the calendar for event information. Your Parent Power Newsletter is named “Parent Power” because I know parents have the power to make a difference in their child’s school. This is truly exemplified by our BFE families and as your child’s principal, I am truly thankful.
Our school year has gotten off to a great start. Parents will have the opportunity to visit the classrooms meet the new and returning staff at our two Open House dates. Open House will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, so please make plans to attend. We will have parking available on the yard at the Jefferson Campus.
Grandparents’ Day is this month and we will have three days for our students to enjoy a delicious lunch with their Grandparents and Grand friends. A special flyer for reservations will go out next week.
Our theme this year is “Get Your Technology Groove On”, and our teachers and staff are working on maximizing the use of technology in the classroom. We were able to get a donation of computers from Microsoft and seven of our seventh grade students received Surface Laptops. Very Cool!!!
Saturday, September 27th is our seventh Come Play with the Bears – KaBOOM Community Play Day from 11:00 – 2:00. Our playground will be open for fun and games and we will also hope to harvest our sunflower crop.   Also, on the 27th we will have our first Dads’ Duty Day, Student Council Installation, and our Green Apple Day of Service. I hope to see you at one or all of our activities.
