December Edition
A message from your child’s Principal, Ms. Matthew:
The end of the first semester is this month. We are halfway through the school year. Congratulations to our Robotics and Academic Games teams. They continue to outshine other area schools! Our Boys Flag Football team will receive their championship trophy during a pregame celebration at the December 7th Panthers Game! Our marching units, Drill Team, Cheerleaders, Majorettes and Dance Team were the pregame show at the 11/25 Pelicans game at the arena. Check them out in the MLK Parade and this Mardi Gras Season in the Krewe of Little Rascals, Krewe of Prytania and Krewe of Femme Fatale.! Our girl scouts packed over 60 boxes full of toys and goodies that have been shipped to children overseas and our Student Council had a very successful Second Harvesters Food Drive. Our clubs and other organizations are in full swing. We have had a great first semester and look forward to even greater success in the second semester.
The Student Council would like to have a year book this year. We will copy pictures from our Facebook page. Please post any pictures you have of field trips or other events to our page. Identify the picture, and we may use it in our 2014-2015 Yearbook. Any parent or student with a free Facebook account can join our Facebook page: Benjamin Franklin Elementary Mathematics and Science School.
December 31 and the New Year are quickly approaching. As we prepare for the busy holiday season, please take time to pause and reflect on 2014. Have you reached the goals you set for yourself and your family in 2014? What will your goals for 2015 be? Why wait for January to plan your New Year’s goals or resolutions? Take the time to plan now, and when January 2015 rolls around, you will be ready to greet the New Year with renewed anticipation and hope for the future.
The Seven Principles of Kwanzaa from the official Kwanzaa web site. This year’s theme is “Practicing the Culture of Kwanzaa: Living the Seven Principles”, which is a great goal for us all.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa,
Happy New Year, Celebrate Life!
