Be a Part of the Plan!
Your Parent Power Newsletter is named “Parent Power” because I know parents have the power to make a difference in their child’s school. This is truly exemplified by our BFE families and as your child’s principal, I am truly thankful.
September brings many opportunities to get involved with our school. The month begins with two extra at home days on the 2nd and 3rd as we are off for Labor Day and then a Professional Development Day for our staff.   The week of the 8th brings events every day! Monday, September 9th is Open House for grades 6 – 8 at the Nashville Campus from 3:45 until 5:45. Tuesday, September 10th is Open House for the Jefferson Campus grades PK – 5th from 4:00 – 6:00. Wednesday the 11th is the first of our three Grandparents Days for PK – 1st. Thursday the 12th for grades 2 – 5 and Friday the 13th for grades 6 – 8. Our Grandparents Luncheon is a very popular event, where our students get to eat lunch with their Grandparents! This year our theme is Getting Along Together, and we are asking our students to share with their Grandparents how we work together at BFE.   Saturday, September 14th is our fifth Come Play with the Bears – KaBOOM Community Play Day from 11:00 – 2:00. Our playground will be open for fun and games and we will also hope to be able to harvest our sunflower crop. I hope to see you at our September events!!
Arrival and Dismissal
It is critically important that all families get on board with our arrival and dismissal times and procedures.
Jefferson Campus
7:30 – 7:50 – Breakfast
7:30 – 7:50 Assembly on yard
7:50 Move to classrooms
8:00 – Instruction begins
3:30 – Dismissal
Bus students utilize the Coliseum Street gate to enter the yard. Walkers and their parents enter through the Chestnut Street gate. Carpool drop off is at the rear Octavia Street gate. In the morning, if a student arrives after the morning assembly, the student must report to the office with their parent for a tardy slip. In the afternoon, we are asking parents who park and come on to the yard to pick up their children to use the Chestnut Street gate and not to exit through the bus gate.
Nashville Campus
7:15 – 7:35 – Breakfast
7:15 – 7:35 Assembly in cafeteria
7:35 Morning Meeting
7:40 Move to classrooms
7:45 – Instruction begins
3:15 – Dismissal
Bus students are dropped off on Annunciation outside the cafeteria doors. Carpool drop off is on Nashville in the front of the school and the students walk down Annunciation to the cafeteria. The front door is not utilized prior to 7:45. If a student arrives after 7:45 the student must report to the office with their parent for a tardy slip.
