Principal’s Message
Great Expectations, Great Support, Great Accountability
October is always a very busy month at school. It is the end of the first quarter, so students should be readying for their first quarter Benchmark tests. Please note the dates on the calendar.
We had a wonderful turnout for our three Grandparents’ Days! Thank you to all who came and who assisted in making our Grandparents feel extra special!! Our Come Play with the Bears Community Play Day although overcast with the threat of rain, was lots of fun for all who attended. Thank you to Mr. Ulyses Collins of the ExCEED Network for installing our Student Council Officers. Check out the OPSB TV for a program highlighting the event.
First Quarter Report Card Conferences
Wednesday, October 26, 2016 will be our first quarter report card conference day. Please plan to come in between 3:45 and 5:45 at the Extension and 4:00 and 6:00 at the Jefferson Campus.
Classroom Interruptions
It is vitally important that we keep our classroom interruptions to a minimum. This is why we ask parents to send us a note if a child needs to be checked out early for a doctor’s appointment or other legitimate reason. Then the teacher is aware at the beginning of the day that a student will be leaving early. Showing up at the end of the day and expecting your child to be able to leave right away is not fair to your child or to the classmates and teacher we are interrupting. We have a no check out policy one half our prior to school dismissal without prior notice. Also, please do not call the school between 3:00 and 3:30 with last minute instructions for dismissal. Finally, please refrain from other sources of interruptions such as students who are tardy to school, parents calling with messages for students, or parents going to a classroom during instructional time. Thank you!
